A new and exciting opportunity is being created within the Borough of Barking & Dagenham for a Safeguarding Champion who is passionate and committed to act on behalf of our children and families to ensure their safeguarding needs are being met.
About the role
This opportunity will involve playing a critical role in holding three Safeguarding Partners, the Local Authority, the Police and NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, to account for:
The successful candidate will be accountable to the Director of Care and Support in Barking & Dagenham Council, the Accountable Officer of the North East London Alliance of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), and the BCU Commander for Barking & Dagenham area of the Metropolitan Police, as part of the tri-partite safeguarding children arrangements.
The Independent Scrutineer will be supported by the Safeguarding Business Manager, the Partnership and Engagement Manager and the Head of Children's Commissioning.
A successful candidate will need to have strong leadership and communication skills to effect influence, constructively challenge and be naturally curious and analytical so to carry out the scrutineer function, as well as facilitate collaborative working and collective and creative problem solving, working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people and Barking and Dagenham Safeguarding Children Partnership welcome expressions of interest from candidates from a range of disciplines. The contract will be for a minimum of 38 days per year, paid at £500-£600 per day.
